Who are we

On February 26th 2019, we have been awarded a total of $2736.22 to attend the WEAI International Conference held in Tokyo. Kodai and Mindy are both graduating seniors majoring in International Affairs at Lewis & Clark College (Portland, OR).

We have been given this tremendous opportunity by the Student Academic Affairs Board (SAAB) on-campus at Lewis & Clark College. SAAB sponsors a competitive grant program supporting:

  1. Student-Motivated Research
  1. Attendance at Conferences
  1. Visiting Scholar Programs
  1. Performances or Artistic Displays

SAAB determines their funding based on merit and contribution to the Lewis & Clark College community. As recipients for the 2018-2019 Grant, we represented a total of 70 other Lewis & Clark students that showed interest to this conference.

The WEAI is a non-profit, educational community dedicated to sharing economic research and analysis, originally founded in Portland, Oregon. The conference welcomed over 2000 WEAI certified economics scholars from academia, representatives from world-renowned organisations, entrepreneurs, potential employers and other students. This year marked the 15th international conference and was held in Tokyo, Japan. This year’s conference revolved around Japan’s aging population and its impact on the work force and future economy. Throughout the conference, we listened to presentations by scholars and engaged in academic discussions. The conference also provided an environment for us to share economic policy ideas through constructive debate on critical economics-related issues.
